Are you an old soul?

Since I started researching spirituality three years ago, I've learned a lot about the soul's journey and why we are such a diverse planet. I've posted about this topic before but I've learned more since my prior post so I figured I would discuss this topic again.

Based on my research into near-death experiences, past life and between life hypnosis, evidential mediumship, and my own intuition, I am a full believer in reincarnation now. As souls, we choose to incarnate into a human body for the growth and evolution it brings our soul. When we are in the spirit realm we also grow and learn, but incarnating into a body on a planet is a hands-on experience. The spirit realm is like going to college, and incarnating is like getting a job where you do the actual work. The soul grows so much during an incarnation due to the feelings of separation from Source (God, Creator) and the amnesia we experience here on Earth.

The journey of the soul includes the soul leaving the Source and then going through training and learning from more evolved souls in the spirit realm. When the soul is ready, it chooses a planet to incarnate on and creates a high level plan for the incarnation. The soul will also choose exit points (planned times to die) during the life. The soul energy incarnates into a body, goes through the life, and when death occurs, the spirit energy returns back to the spirit realm, merges back with the soul energy, and continues to learn and enjoy the spirit side. Then the soul will plan another life when it's ready.

As the soul incarnates, the soul gains wisdom and learnings from each incarnation. Soul age isn't actually about time but it's about wisdom and learnings gained in the incarnations and training in the spirit realm. Every incarnation has specific purposes, lessons, and challenges. The soul also gains personality traits with each incarnation. Think of the soul as a baby. As the baby grows and has more experiences, the child begins to build personality, then as it continues to age, the adolescent and then adult gains more wisdom. An older person may not have as much energy as a toddler but is much more knowledgeable. That's a good analogy for the soul.

For example, I met with an akashic reader to learn about my own soul's journey. An akashic reader is an intuitive that reads the akashic records. The akashic records is an ethereal database that holds all the information about a soul. The akashic reader was able to tell me about all the lessons I have already completed in other lives. These lessons were: commitment, inner authority, power, integrity, independence, balance, beauty, and accountability. When we master lessons, we carry that knowledge with us.

I want to be clear that there is no caste system or hierarchy in the spirit realm. An older soul isn't better than a younger soul. It's just about growth and evolution. Each soul is a piece to the greater puzzle. We are all connected in a web of life and every soul plays a part. At the same time though, there are differences in souls due to experience.

The soul can incarnate on planet Earth or on other planets, it just depends on the soul's journey. For example, I have hundreds of incarnations on other planets and most of my lessons were learned on other planets. I only have 30 incarnations on Earth. There are other people that have hundreds of incarnations on Earth, so they are going to be more comfortable in a human body and understand the organizations and institutions on this planet better than I do. I can get into the details on this topic of souls that normally incarnate on other planets, they are called starseeds, but I'll discuss that in another blog post.

So why does the soul want to grow and evolve? There is a natural inclination for the soul to want to evolve but also as the soul grows and evolves, the soul gets access to more realms and knowledge in the spirit realm. Near-death experiencers explain that when they were in the spirit realm and they looked up, there were levels of realms and they weren't able to cross into certain realms.

This is also discussed in hypnosis when people have a between-lives hypnosis session, the younger souls under hypnosis don't have as much knowledge about the spirit realm as the older souls. Michael Newton discusses this in his books, Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls. He mentions getting excited when he get a chance to do a hypnosis session with an older soul because he's able to get so much more detail about the structure of the spirit realm and who is making decisions.

On Earth, we have a very diverse group of souls. We have younger souls, mature souls, and old souls. Let's discuss each group and you can think about your own soul's journey:

Younger souls: Younger souls will be energetic and may be a little doe-eyed or child-like. They will be less independent which may cause them to join religions and groups. They like to be part of organizations and institutions because they are looking for a feeling of security.

They may also be easily manipulated because they struggle to find their own identity so they may be susceptible to the fear-mongering often used to gain power by others. Since younger souls haven't learned as many lessons they may choose easier lives at first but as they age they will choose harder lives which may cause them to act out. They don't have the experience to understand consequences which may cause them to choose violence over love.

As the young soul ages, they will be interested in finance and materialism. They will be focused on trying to fit in to society still and can get caught up in ego and competition. There's nothing wrong with enjoying materialism on this planet but the issue occurs when we use money or wealth to define who we are, to judge others, and for purposes of greed and corruption.

Mature souls: As the soul ages with more incarnations, they start to gain more wisdom, empathy, and compassion. This is something that naturally happens as the soul lives more incarnations because they have more diverse experiences. For example the soul that incarnates as the priest, monk, war hero, and war villain will have all these diverse experiences of what it's like to be different personas. The mature soul starts to become more independent but still has lessons and karmic energy they are working on.

A mature soul will be that person that has anxiety that they don't understand. They may have health issues that they are working through. They may still be part of organizations but more interested in the environmental organizations. They may also be trying to understand duality on the planet and get caught up in questions like why there is war, darkness, corruption...etc on the planet. Essentially, they will be working through past life traumas and on themselves.

Older souls: By the time a soul has had hundreds, if not thousands of incarnations they've been every type of person and had many experiences and adventures. This creates a very compassionate, empathic, and well-rounded person. They will be an independent person, not wanting to join groups and organizations as much. All the incarnations create a very independent thinker.

As the soul ages with wisdom their soul energy becomes a higher energetic frequency. This may cause older souls to struggle in the life because it may actually be challenging to be in the human body. Thus, older souls may have issues with alcohol and drugs, looking to escape. It can be very challenging and lonely to be a more evolved soul on Earth. I'm sure it was challenging for someone like Martin Luther King Jr. who was way ahead of his time.

Older souls may be drawn to nature, animals, and caretaking. They will be the teachers and guides for others since they've already been through so much. There will be a peacefulness about them as they age in the life.

Older souls usually won't be attention-getters. They will be the woman checking you out at the grocery store that is so kind, the park ranger that teaches kids about nature and animals, and it could even be the homeless person on the corner with a sign teaching us about compassion.

I do think that we have a larger percentage of older souls on our planet right now to help humanity evolve. I think the young children today are more evolved souls that have more empathy, compassion, openness, and naturally care about the planet and animals.

I believe that everyone has a right to their perspective and soul's journey, and everyone is here for a reason. We are all learning and growing on our own path at our own pace and that's exactly as it should be.
