What triggers you? Karmic Relationships that trigger us

Being triggered by someone or something is a big flag for us as humans and it's important to become self-aware to what is triggering us. There's a soul reason we are triggered.

Let's talk about the people that trigger us first. Are you triggered by your parents, your kids, your spouse, your ex-wife or ex-husband, your sister or brother? Everyone gets triggered by someone.

Something I learned that was a huge "aha moment" for me is that the people that trigger us are big karmic flags. Karma is a very misunderstood topic. Most people think it has to do with punishment but that's actually not correct. Karma is about the soul wanting to balance its energy or you could say it's about the soul's learnings.

As souls we live many lives. The purpose of life is for the soul to learn through incarnation. The soul is energy and the spirit realm is bliss so in order for the soul to get "hands-on" learning, the soul incarnates into the physical universe. The soul can choose to incarnate as a physical human on Earth or can choose to incarnate on other planets. This is just the journey of the soul and the soul has free will to choose.

When we live many lives we make many mistakes, and sometimes we cause pain and destruction, intentionally or unintentionally. We've all made mistakes and we've all been a bad guy in a life so everyone has caused pain, there's no getting away from that. When we die and return to the spirit realm, we undergo a life review to observe the life. We feel from both our perspective and anyone we've interacted with. Thus, we as souls know when we caused pain.

During the life review, when the soul sees that it caused pain to someone in a life, it wants to balance that energy and learn from it. So then in the next life, the soul will choose challenges, purposes, and interactions to learn from the mistakes or pain caused in another life. For example, if we abandoned a loved one in a prior life, we as a soul may want to setup a situation in a future life to be abandoned so we know what that feels like. The soul wants to have different experiences in order to evolve.

It doesn't have to be about causing pain though. It could also be about balancing the energy of a service. For example, in a prior life if we were a nurse that cared for someone, we will set it up for that soul to care for us or provide a service to us in the next life. This way, we as a soul will have the experience of caring for another and also to be cared for. These are simple examples but you get the point here.

So what I'm getting at is that when we are triggered by someone, it actually has to do with our soul's learning and karma. For example, if you can't stand your parents because they are controlling or demanding, and they always say things to trigger you, then there's a karmic bond there and a teaching in the experience. There's a past life relationship there and in this life you are likely meant to create boundaries with them.

I can provide an example of my own situation. I get triggered by my kids and the way they throw all their stuff on the floor. I'm always picking up after them, doing their dishes, doing laundry..etc, etc. Because this bugs me, it means I have karma with them. I actually know that my oldest son was my mother in a past life, and I was very difficult in that life. And guess what? He never wants to help me around the house and he can be quite difficult when I ask him to clean up. I signed up for this and I realize that.

Okay now let's talk about being triggered by situations. I know that one of my soul's learnings in this life is on finding peace and harmony. So of course I had three kids two years apart. Having three kids means a lot of noise and a messy house, which is a real challenge for peace and harmony. But this is one of the things my soul signed up to focus on. Yes I get triggered by constant noise and mess but knowing this definitely helps me out. And of course I need to meditate daily to keep my cool.

Thus, our triggers can also be about what our soul wants to learn in the life. For example, I get triggered by the state of the world. Specifically, I get frustrated by the politics, war, and media of our world. One of my soul's learnings in this life is to accept that there are circumstances outside of my control. I can sit in my house and fume all day about the fact that humans are still warring against each other and the state of our planet and environment, but how is that going to help anyone. I need to remind myself that I've incarnated into a universe that has duality. There will always be the shadow and light for the learning of the soul. I have to accept that I don't have control over everything going on in our world but I do have control over my own thoughts and intentions.

Usually the way we are triggered by specific people will coincide with the situations we are triggered by and there's a lot of learning there. We can look at other examples as well:

  • If you are triggered by your ex-spouse and your parents were divorced, that could be a sign that you are to focus on your relationships and commitments in this life.

  • If you didn't have children but you are triggered by family members, that would be a sign that your focus in the life is on self-love, self-empowerment, and self-trust. Whenever people don't have children, that's a big flag that they aren't supposed to focus on the caregiving of children but rather they need to focus on their relationship with themselves.

  • Having multiple children and being triggered by your children is definitely a sign to focus on peace and harmony as I said above

  • If you are triggered by money and your parents struggled with money, you may be working on the life lesson of success and empowerment. The key here is to follow your passion and focus on positive affirmations. Also, check out my blog post about the Energy of Money.

  • Another example is if you are very rigid and controlled and you get triggered by messy people and those that are more relaxed, then a lesson could be flexibility in this life.

These are just some examples of how we are all triggered by different things. There is always a reason for what frustrates us, causes us sadness, anger, and different emotions. We aren't all triggered by the same things and there's a reason for that. We all have different soul lessons and past incarnations that are affecting our life now.

The point here is to observe what bothers us and think about how it could relate to our soul's learnings for this life. Once we start to notice the patterns in our life, it will make it easier to make changes, react differently, and we can start to figure out what we need to work on. We can start to heal the relationships in our life, which will help our soul evolve.

Below is a transcription from a channeling with channeler, Stephanie Banks. She was channeling my spirit guide and he discussed this topic of karma:

"Do I have any karmic clean-up that I can enact right now in this awakening state of me where I have caused harm intentionally or not intentionally and now I wish to heal and provide healing and be a source of healing? I say what a beautiful question, I am so glad you asked. The answer is yes so if I may direct your next rabbit hole it will be in the pursuit inwardly of where you most sense and are most guided to direct your loving attention, your unconditional loving attention to those with whom you have relationships or simply awareness in asking for repair of that which has been damaging in the past. For right now in this very journey you are spinning around in you have more than a couple who are here with you and for you to make this exact energetic healing complete. This is a good place for your soul and heart searching and a good place to have conversations through the heart with guidance of spirit and goddess herself to bring about a new way of being, understanding, accepting and healing."
