I've been reading the book called Verified Near Death Experiences by Simon Brown. Simon Brown is the host of two podcasts, he is a clinical hypnotherapist, and a researcher into consciousness. He explains that a subset of near death experiences (NDEs) is known as veridical near-death experiences. They are NDE cases where the person gains accurate, verifiable knowledge about events or details they should not have been able to perceive given their critical physical state.

Allow me to summarize the cases in the book. When the person dies, they explain that death is literally as fast as blinking your eye. You pop out of your body that quickly and you find yourself in a form of energy. You are hovering nearby your body observing your physical body with curiosity but you aren't really concerned. You are just in a state of curiosity and feeling warmth and freedom. It sounds very strange but this is absolutely consistent with all the NDEs I've read. People are looking at their body with little interest, knowing it was just a temporary vehicle for the soul.

Once in an energy body the person finds themselves hovering near the ceiling observing all the events with senses that are much more acute than physical human senses. Specifically they say that they can see 360 degrees, they can hear much better, they can read police badges with accuracy, see every detail of a room, hear people's thoughts, and observe people in different rooms or houses. This is the point in time where people collect specific details that they bring back with them when they wake up in their hospital bed.

The person usually observes the action in their house and/or hospital for a little bit as if they are watching a movie, and then they are pulled into a tunnel. Most accounts said it was a dark tunnel and there was a pinpoint of light at the end. As they went further into the tunnel, the light opens up into a bright beautiful realm. I think that the tunnel is a portal between energetic dimensions. They then meet with guides and loved ones in the spirit realm, and sometimes get a little tour. They also may get a life review and advice for how they can help humanity when they are back in their body. Some are given a choice to go back to their body and some say they already knew they had to go back to Earth.

Below are a couple examples from the book:

In 1997, Jeff Olsen, his wife Tamara, and two children were driving home from their Easter weekend with Tamara's parents. The drive home would take several hours and Jeff set the cruise control. Jeff doesn't remember exactly what caused the accident but he lost control of the car and it rolled down the road. He blacked out and the car rolled seven or eight times. When Jeff regained consciousness he was pinned. Then he drifted into unconsciousness again until a light came which brought a sense of calm and warmth and he felt himself rising above the accident.

He was transported to a place filled with joy, a realm that felt familiar. He felt a touch and his wife was standing before him in the light. The following is a quote from the book, “'My wife, who I knew was deceased at the scene, was there in the light with me, and she was absolutely gorgeous,' Jeff recalled. Tamara spoke softly, telling him, 'Jeff, you can’t come. You can’t come. You’ve got to go back.'" Jeff returned to the hospital trauma center but in spirit form. He says in this out-of-body form he was completely aware of patients, doctors, nurses, and families of patients like he was connected to them all. He said there was a oneness infused with unconditional love. He knew intimate details about the people in the hospital. He came upon his body, recognized himself, and knew he needed to go back. In an instant he found himself reunited with the reality of his body. He says, "It felt like I was in a lead cocoon".

What's very interesting about this NDE case is that a nurse and one of the emergency room doctors actually saw Tamara in spirit floating above Jeff's body and they also saw Jeff in energy form standing next to this body. The emergency room doctor's name is Dr. Jeff O'Driscoll. Below is from the book, "In the trauma room, the medical team worked to stabilize Jeff and bring him back from the brink. Dr. Jeff O’Driscoll, one of the center’s level one trauma physicians, was attending to another patient when a nurse urgently approached him. She told him she had witnessed something extraordinary and insisted he come to the trauma room immediately. As they walked, she explained she had felt and seen Jeff’s deceased wife, Tamara. When Dr. O’Driscoll and the nurse entered the trauma room, a scene greeted them unlike any they had encountered before. Above Jeff’s body, Tamara’s soul hovered, her presence observing as the medical team worked frantically to save her husband’s life. As Dr. O’Driscoll watched, he felt Tamara communicate with him telepathically, expressing her deep gratitude for everything they were doing to help. At that moment, Jeff, still in an in-between state, looked across the room and caught Dr. O’Driscoll’s eye. The doctor gave him a quiet, understanding nod, as if to confirm something unspoken."

Wow, pretty shocking right. So not only does Jeff Olsen have an NDE but there is a nurse and doctor that see his wife and him in spirit form in the emergency room. Jeff spent five months in the hospital and lost his leg due to the accident. He had 18 surgeries during his recovery and it took a year for him to function again. Interestingly, both Jeff and Dr. O'Driscoll speak about the experience. I found this IANDS video on YouTube with them talking about their experience.

Another NDE example is Lynda Cramer. In 2001 she was a 35 year old woman from Australia living in North Carolina with her husband Sam. She came down with a chest infection and went to bed early to rest. Around 2am she woke up struggling to breath and had to go to the bathroom. She made it to the bathroom and collapsed. Her husband Sam heard her banging on the wall and calling out to him, he found her lifeless with blue skin in the bathroom. Sam called 911 and started CPR. In her medical file it states that when the ambulance arrived she was unresponsive, no heart rate, no breathing, and clinically dead for at least 14 minutes. While this was happening, Lynda said she left her body while she was in the bathroom and she then floated near the ceiling viewing the scene. She felt weightless and noticed she had an energy body but that her legs faded away below the knees. She said this state felt totally normal. She described the sheriff and paramedics in detail, could hear their thoughts, conversations, and could read the badge name.

Lynda quickly found herself in another setting. She said if you close your eyes and open them, that's how fast she was in a different location. Here is an excerpt from the book, "Everything around her, the flowers, the grass, the trees, emitted a powerful, harmonious energy. The colors were unlike anything she had ever seen before. 'I can close my eyes now tonight, and I can still see the flowers. I can still see the colors,' Lynda explained. 'Here on Earth, we only use about 5% of the color spectrum. So it’s very hard for me to explain these colors.' Lynda realized that in this place, her perception stretched far beyond what was possible on Earth. She struggled to find the right words to describe it, but there was a deep, intuitive understanding of everything around her. It was as if the entire realm spoke to her, and she understood it all. Music filled the air, though it seemed to come from no single source. Instead, the trees, flowers, and even the air seemed to create the music. It was a harmonious melody, impossible to tire of, and it felt as though the music was a fundamental part of this world, existing in every living thing." She also says there were other people there. They seemed to acknowledge her but not pay too much attention to her. She noticed that individuals could change their appearance in an instant based on thought. She says her movement wasn't bound by time or physical effort but was based on thought.

Lynda then goes to a building with three beings of light waiting for her. The building radiated its own energy and was vibrant with color. They displayed a box for her and when she opened it, she saw every moment of her life. She could reach into the box and choose a memory of her life from it. She experienced her life from the perspective of the people she had interacted with. The beings very clearly said they were not there to judge her. After reviewing her life she was approached by a woman named Corinna. Corinna shared glimpses of Lynda's future, and explained to her the purpose for reincarnation and soul contracts. She said that a soul contract is the outline plan for a life, the lessons a person needs to learn, and challenges faced. Moments later Lynda wakes up from an eight day coma and returns to the physical world. When she woke up she was able to describe many accurate details while she was out of her body.

These are just a couple examples from the book but there are many examples and at the end of each chapter, it walks through all the details that were verified. The reason that this is so important is because many doctors and scientists still write off NDEs as a trick of the brain or hallucination. However, people come back with verified details while their eyes were taped shut during surgery and sometimes they were legally dead. You can't write that off. It's important for science to accept spiritual experiences and continue to bridge these experiences with quantum physics and the study of consciousness.
