The Fascinating World of Spirit Guides

I had never heard of the phrase "spirit guides" before I started reading about near death experiences and mediumship. But this ended up becoming a very important topic for me to uncover. Allow me to provide a quick definition, a spirit guide is a mentor that you know from the spirit realm that is supporting you in your life on Earth. They are your family in the spirit realm and you planned your life with them before you were born. We don't plan every aspect of our life but we plan the high level blueprint and then we have free will; so our lives are a combination of a soul plan and free will. Our spirit guides follow us around to help us stay on track.

As I dug deeper into this topic, I started to learn more about spirit guides and who mine were. I've shared a prior channeling I had with Stephanie Banks where she channeled my main spirit guide. He said to call him Socrates. My understanding is that the names our spirit guides give us have meaning. For example Socrates is my teacher and mentor in the spirit realm which is why he said to call him this name. I've also been told that he's been my grandfather in a couple of my prior Earthly incarnations and he's also been with me in some of my galactic incarnations.

Here's a short snippet of the channeling where Stephanie Banks channeled my main spirit guide called Socrates: "Here’s the thing about us, we work best when we are in rhythm, when we are in harmony, when we are in a suitable and as they say sustainable pace so it’s going to be slow. You asked for this, this is not my doing, I am not imposing something that is ill fitted or ill suited. It is what you have asked for. You said prior to this incarnation, let’s do this thing, this next lifetime, it’s going to be big, it’s going to be kind of dense at times, definitely intense and we will bring all the gifts and skills and tools with it. And by the way would you help me keep a pace that makes sense for my heart. That's what you said honey bunches! And so I said, yea got it, I took notes on that. I keep a little pen tucked behind my ear just for such declarations. So that’s how we are going to go and it’s alright you get impatient at times. You were imbued with kinda a lot of that and that’s alright too. It’s not something that will hold you back with relation to us."

I think most of us have an idea of what a spiritual being is like, perhaps we picture them like angels playing a harp on a cloud or something. This doesn't seem to be the case. What I was surprised about is that spirit guides have personalities and can be funny. In September of 2025 I met with a woman named Jamie Butler that could see and hear spirits. She was a very good medium and definitely legitimate. At the end of the session, she told me that I had two spirit guides standing there, one named Adelphi and one named Charlie. They were standing next to my main guide Socrates. Of course knowing me and my relentless pursuit for spiritual understanding, I wanted to know who these guides, Charlie and Adelphi were.

Let me explain what happened with Charlie because it's fascinating. About a year and a half ago in 2024 my dog passed away. Right after this happened I had a vivid dream about my dog and there was a man in the dream. He looked familiar but I didn't feel like I knew him from my current life. He had brown hair, glasses, and an old fashioned look to him. I wrote in my journal and asked my spirit guides who it was in my dream and the response I kept hearing in my mind is that it was a brother from a past life. Then in 2025 when the medium, Jamie Butler told me I had a spirit guide named Charlie, I kept thinking that the man in my dream was this spirit guide.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago in Jan 2026, I met with the wonderful channeler Stephanie. I asked if she could channel Charlie, my spirit guide. Stephanie said the following during the channeling, "I am your brother from another moment in time, not too long ago". Stephanie had no idea that I thought he was my past life brother. All I told her was that I thought he was a spirit guide. As you can see this information trickled out over two years. So to summarize this wild experience, I actually saw my past life brother in my dream, I found out he was also a spirit guide, and then I wrote it down in a journal that he was my past life brother, and had it confirmed by an intuitive. It's very crazy I know. Charlie also explained in the channeling that his focus is more in service to humanity by sending love to those humans that need it.

With regards to Adelphi, right before my channeling session with Stephanie, I googled what the name Adelphi means. Adelphi means brethren or sibling. Below is what he said in the channeling:

"I’m very pleased with you, very entertained by you, I trust you will be entertained by me and my antics as well. I am a playful one and I bring to you versions of yourself, gifts or skills you weren't aware of. So whenever you say, I wasn’t aware, you know I will be on this side of things throwing my head back in laughter, slapping my knee where I too have one, and getting a great big guffaw over how silly it is that you actually could say at any point of time that you aren’t aware of anything. Okay dearest one, you want to know the inner workings and I dare say that this might be a disappointment to you but let’s play with it shall we because I am the one bringing in the infusion of gentle playful energy.

As you have been briefly introduced to me, with the strength and meaning of my name, pleased to meet you very much so, and my friend here that you have come here to know as Socrates, Big S is what I call this one. Anyways we are brethren, we are connected by universal energy, cosmic forces, and radiate a similar ring of emerald fire. Now having said all that please do not feel so much the need to keep us in specific compartments. It is sometimes the tendency to label and categorize that can make things more confusing in an attempt to make them more clear.

So I am he, he is me, we are you, you are we. You understand this concept, you have read it enough, you have written of it, you have turned it over and over in your heart. Stay with it. This idea, it’s not an idea, it’s a reality, but let’s for the moment call it an idea, of non-separation, of oneness, of integration. This is what we wish for you to understand. If you so desire, gather up as many names as you wish to gather. There will be a line of spiritual practitioners that will give you all sorts of words. This will be great for you to hold. At a point of time you will get tired of holding and let the rest slip through your fingers and you will recognize again I am you, you are me, he is me, we are they. Play around with the pronouns all that you wish. Humans like to play with the pronouns these days. See what I did there. Playful, playful, playful."

You can start to see the dynamic here with spirit guides where it seems that we all have one main spirit guide and then we have many other spirit guides that come in and out to help us with specific aspects in our lives. Adelphi is saying that if you want, you can gather names and personalities of your spirit guides but it will be hard to keep track. Thus, he's reminding me of the concept of Oneness and that we are all One. He's saying that he doesn't want me to get confused by having different spirit guides. I can choose to just talk to one of them or call them all "spirit guides" if I want. Basically the key is that we ask them for help when we need it, speak to them if we want to, and know that we have our spiritual family with us at all times. They are constantly whispering in our ear.

Spirit guides are energy so they communicate with us energetically. We all have an auric field around us and we are all made of energy. We receive energetic messages through our chakra points and everyone receives communication differently. For example, I receive information through my crown chakra which is through the top of my head. I can actually feel the top of my head tingling sometimes. Some people hear their guides in their mind or see images that their guides send them. We can receive information through any of our chakra points but people are stronger in one or two of the chakras. Everyone receives information through their chakras everyday, people just don't know it.

My suggestion if trying to connect with spirit guides is to ask them questions and then quiet your mind to hear responses. You can also ask them to send you information while you sleep because I think we connect with them often during the sleep state. And finally journaling is always a suggested way to connect with spirit guides. Oftentimes, our guides are actually our own voice in our head. They will only provide helpful information though. Any fear-based, self-deprecating, judgemental, or urgent thoughts come from the human brain. Messages from the spirit realm are always calm, harmonious, and loving.

To summarize, we all have a team of spiritual beings supporting us. These are beings that know us better than anyone. They have been our mentors and family in the spirit realm and have even been in other incarnations with us. They are constantly surrounding us with loving energy and speaking words of wisdom to us. It's not necessary to know them individually or meet with channelers to hear them speak. What's important is that you become aware of them and know that you can ask them for help when you need it.
