Seeing Spirits in Dreams

I've been having dreams my whole life. Some vivid, some scary, and some confusing. After researching spirituality and consciousness, I have a better understanding of the dream realm, although there is still a lot of mystery to uncover.
What I've gathered is that dreams can be different things. They can be our thoughts and emotions working through us during sleep, but they can also be a helluva lot more than that. When we sleep, we are often opening up a portal to other realms and dimensions. Hence, dreams can also be memories from our other lives and communications from our spirit guides, and our own higher self. Allow me to share a few wild examples from my own dream time.
I've had dreams where I know my higher self or guides were trying to tell me something. An example is that I kept having dreams where my 3 year old son would get too close to a pool or ocean and I was really anxious and worried. For example in one dream, we were on a beach and my son kept walking closer and closer to a violent ocean. This was a recurring dream. Finally I quieted my mind and realized that I was supposed to sign him up for swimming lessons. We have a pool in our backyard and he took swimming lessons the prior summer but my guides wanted me to get him started again in the winter to get him swimming. I signed him up for swim lessons at our gym and the dreams stopped.
We can also be visited by those we know in spirit during dream time. After my dog died, I saw him in a vivid dream with another man. When I woke up the next day, I asked my spirit guides who the man was, and I kept hearing in my mind a past life brother. Months later I met with an intuitive that told me he was a past life brother from a recent life. It's a roundabout story but the intuitive ended up saying this without me telling her. This validated for me that our dream reality can somehow tap into other realms and dimensions. When I saw my dog and this past life brother in my dream, I thought it was in my backyard. I believe my dog visited me to let me know he was okay and my past life brother accompanied him. My thought is that during this dream, we were in some astral dimension in between the 3rd dimension and the spirit realm and it appeared to look like my backyard. Very wild, I know!
I recently had another dream that was very similar to this where I saw a spirit. I read the book My Life After Death by Erik and Elisa Medhus which is a channeled posthumous memoir written by Erik Medhus from the spirit realm. He died at the age of 20 years old. His mother, Elisa was a sceptic but when she met with mediums, they were able to provide evidence that he was still here, just in different form. Jamie Butler is the born medium that channeled the book and his mother, Elisa pulled it together. After I read this book I started following the Channeling Erik YouTube channel where Elisa meets with mediums to discuss various topics. Ginger Bayley, a medium I reference from time to time in this blog is one of those mediums. Erik is actually one of Ginger's spirit guides.
Okay, let's get to my dream now. I was walking with friends in a brick building and there were other people walking around. I look up and I see Erik walking by in front of me and he looks directly at me. I had seen his picture in the book I referenced above and on the Channeling Erik website so he looked familiar but I also just knew it was him. I said to my friends, "I just saw Erik, is this real?" Then he was in front of me and said, "Yes it's real" and was smiling. Then I woke up at 5:30am in the morning. I couldn't believe how vivid it was. I emailed Ginger because I needed an external validation, even though I knew it was real. I told her that I saw Erik in my dream and asked her if it was my thoughts that created the dream or if he was there. She replied back that he was there and he wanted to show me a glimpse of a life we had together. This is a good example of how we are all connected. This is the web of life.
The purpose of seeing Erik in my dream was to show me that dreams can be much more than just our thoughts. We can actually meet and see spirits in our dreams. What I noticed is that this dream with Erik happened right before I woke up so that I would remember it. It was burned in my brain the next day. If you want to meet with a loved one in spirit in a dream, speak it outloud and put your intention out there. Ask your spirit guides to do this for you. They are here to help us but we need to be open to it. The other interesting thing I noticed is that everyone's face in the dream seemed blurred out except Erik's. It was very clear I was meant to see him and focus on him in the dream.
Our higher self and spirit guides may provide spiritual experiences like this to open us up to new ways of thinking. This experience with my past life brother and Erik opened me up to the fact that dreams can be very real experiences. I've had a few spiritual and galactic experiences up to this point but this was still shocking for me that I saw a spirit in my dreams and it was real. Now when I go to sleep, I'm thinking, okay, what are you guys going to show me tonight? Can't wait!
I'm going to share something else about dreams that may sound very woo woo. I was told by Akashic Reader, Erin Lynn, that my soul has the job of a Dream Master (or spelled Dreammaster). This is a known job for souls, where some souls will volunteer to partake in other people's dreams. These dreams occur in the Astral Realm. I essentially play a role in other people's dreams to help them with their learning. This weirdly made sense because I have A LOT of dreams and oftentimes there are people in my dreams I don't recognize. I'm also tired after a nights sleep as if I've been working all night. I guess I have been! Apparently, this is a common soul job. Souls will volunteer for jobs like this, we all have jobs in the spirit realm. I found another Akashic Reader that talks about this job online, link here if curious.
A soul will choose to have learnings in a dream if they want to learn a lesson, but it doesn't fit in with their soul plan for the incarnation. For example, if the soul wants to feel what it would be like to be rejected, the human would have dreams about rejection to understand how that feels and then that human would have more compassion for those that deal with emotions of rejection. Thus, souls can choose to learn quite a bit in dreams as well.
Another interesting experience in dreams is to view past life memories. We often don't fully understand the dream but we have an inkling that it was a past life memory. I think we dream about these past life memories to release past life traumas and because that past life is connected to our current life. For example we may have a dream of a life where we were powerless because we are meant to work on our self empowerment in this life. When we wake up it's important to think about how we felt in the dream, were you anxious, scared, stressed, or excited?
I used to be terrified of my dreams and I hated going to sleep, but now I better understand the purpose and I look at my dreams as more interesting than anything else. I usually don't fully understand my dreams but I'm starting to become more aware of them and now I'm fascinated by them. I do think meditation helps with this. This is because meditation allows for better awareness and connection to our higher self; thus, when I have a dream I'm starting to better understand the purpose of it.
This is a work in progress for me. There will always be mysteries in life no matter how much I research and meditate. What will I dream about tonight? A past life, a parallel reality, will I join someone else's dream, or have a visit from a spirit or galactic friend? What I've realized is that nothing is by accident. There is a purpose, learning, and teaching behind everything we experience.
