I Know we are Souls and a Spirit Realm Exists...that doesn't Mean Life is Perfect

About three years ago I started researching near-death experiences, which opened my eyes. My curiosity didn’t end there though. I then read book after book on hypnosis, quantum physics, out-of-body experiences, manifestation, and I took mediumship and energy healing classes. I also started a meditation practice. All this research and meditation woke me up out of my deep slumber. You could say that I’m now living in an “awakened state”.
As I awakened, I realized that much of what I had been taught by society wasn't actually true. I experienced many ego deaths that transformed my perspective as I questioned the nature of reality and explored who I am as a soul. I didn't just discover who I am in this lifetime as Lauren, I also journeyed into my past lives, detailing out about 30 incarnations on Earth and on other planets.
This was all very exciting as I was figuring out that the universe is indeed quite magical. However, during this process of waking up I was still a mother of three little children, which required me to change poop diapers, pick up a lot of toys, do laundry, and cut up fruit into little pieces. So yea, I was still living a normal human life. Much of my time during this awakening process was a roller coaster of high highs, but then low lows of returning to mundane tasks of everyday life.
I'm now passed the phase of awakening. In the end there were many benefits of waking up and becoming a more high vibe me. I’m calmer and more patient, I have gratitude for the small things now, I eat healthier and I have more energy, and I have more compassion for myself and others. More importantly, I understand my purpose and why I’m here. Overall I’m much happier.
Although I generally am more joyful and at peace, what I realized is that being spiritual and knowing all that I know doesn’t mean life is perfect. I’m not frolicking through the park in euphoric joy. What it does mean is that I have the tools to manage myself and my emotions now and I can better work through challenges.
So even though I do feel like I am higher vibe and life is better, each day is not perfect. I have a good example for you. This past week, my four year old son decided to scream and whine about wanting a zoo bracelet for the full 15 minute drive to drop my other two kids off at their morning camp. I felt like I was losing my mind. Then when my two older children were in the pool, they kept playing rough causing me stress. And don't get me started on my crazy dog. Let’s just say it was a challenging day for me as a parent. I was tired, burned out, and needed a break.
My day was a challenge and I went to sleep ready for a new day. I knew that I needed some self-care after my week and luckily I woke up the next day to a sunny Saturday. I went for a run, listening to my music. I then worked on my book and made time for meditation. I was able to observe the situation from the prior day, forgive myself for not handling everything perfectly, and move forward. I was able to center myself again.
The key here is that even when we are spiritually awake, it's easy to fall back into feeling very human. I can provide a laundry list of things that frustrate me about our world but in the end, I know why we are here. We are here to feel the emotions of being human, live through the ups and downs, and learn. I know it's not worth it to sit and stir in negative emotions for days. We will have tough days and we will have good days. It's important to remember that and set the expectation that life will not be perfect. It wasn't designed to be perfect. It was designed to be beautifully messy.
Whenever things get really tough, I remind myself that we live in a universe of duality. There will always be shadows for the learning of the soul. This planet will never be perfect, there will always be storms. In the same way, I will never be perfect either. As a human, I will make mistakes, learn from them, and continue moving forward.
To summarize, the whole point to being spiritually awake is about self-love, compassion for ourselves and others, and the ability to return to ourselves. Life is about embracing the human experience while remembering that, at our core, we are divine beings.
