How I Wrote My Book

A couple years ago when I started this journey I went to a psychic. This psychic told me that I would write a book. She was nice and I hugged her good-bye. As I was getting in my car, I thought, that lady is NOT a good psychic. Well, I'm getting close to publishing my book now so I guess she was pretty good!

I never expected to write a book, never! It was just something I didn't think about. When I was younger, I thought I had my path planned out. I was going to be a traveling consultant and work my way up the chain. Funny how life doesn't go as we planned, but isn't that the magical thing about it?

After I was laid off from my job, I took time off to take care of my three little kids. The plan was to spend time with my kids and then when I was ready, to start looking for a new job in IT. One night as I was laying in bed, I thought to myself, "When people have a heart attack and are resuscitated, I wonder if they see something?" I had never heard the term near-death experience but after looking online, I found databases of near-death experience accounts. I read one after the other and was shocked!

It wasn't long before I was reading book after book about near-death experiences. Soon after, I found books on past life and between life hypnosis, and then I was taking online classes on evidential mediumship and energy healing. I was hungry for this information. I was able to consume a lot of information while my kids napped and played.

What I've realized is that I have a knack for consuming information and remembering key points, connecting the dots, and finding the patterns. This is something that came naturally to me. It doesn't seem to be any and all information though. For example, I also read books about quantum physics since quantum physics supports concepts of spirituality, but I couldn't keep all of it in my head. I understood the basic premise of quantum physics but I can't explain it to other people. However, I was able to understand details of the death process, the spirit realm, and the soul's journey, and explain it to others.

As I researched and consumed more information, I had so much information in my head that I had to write it out. I started typing it out into a google doc, calling it a journal. Then I got a nagging feeling to create a blog. I was nervous to share the information, not sure how people would react to this information. I kept getting the nagging feeling though. During a couple weeks in the wintertime when my little kids were sick with colds, laying on the couch watching their shows, I decided to create this blog. The information poured out of me. I wrote about near-death experiences, reincarnation, and mediumship. It felt good to get the information out.

As I continued down my journey, I had more to share. At some point, I started to copy/paste my blog information into a book format and structure it in an organized way. I realized that I could turn my blog into a book. I did this for a couple months, structuring it and smoothing it out. I wasn't even sure if I would publish it, I was just following what I wanted to do in that moment.

I realized I had a book to share but I needed a professional to help me smooth it out. I ended up going to a meditation type retreat for a weekend. During that weekend, I told the spiritual teacher that I wrote a book but needed an editor. She told me that she used a self-publishing company called KN Literary Arts. When I got home I looked up this publishing company. It was a self-publishing company that edits books and then helps authors self-publish. I ended up booking an appointment.

I was happy with their pitch and how they worked. I understood the contract and I liked the fact that the book would remain in my ownership. I was just going to pay for the services of editing and self-publishing. I would still own all the rights to my book.

KN Literary set me up with a professional editor. She completed a developmental edit to help me structure my book, a line edit to check verbiage and flow, and we are on the 3rd edit now where she reviews grammar and sentence structure. Her editing has been exactly what I needed. In the next couple weeks, I will start the self-publishing phase where KN Literary will help me with the cover of the book, and putting it into a book format.

This process has been fascinating for me since I never thought of myself as a writer or author. I never set out to write a book, I was just following what excited me. I also think I was getting nudges from my spirit guides and my higher self while I was on this journey.

For anyone that wants to write a book, I would suggest following what excites you first and let the information flow. Using a journal and then blog was a great path for me so I recommend that too.

What I've realized the last couple years is that we all have gifts that we may not even be aware of. These gifts come from our learning and training in the spirit realm and our experience in prior lives. We are all souls on our own journey and we all create our own reality. If you aren't sure what your gifts are, quieting the mind is key. It allows your spirit guides and your higher self to communicate to you. It will sound like a voice in your head and may even be a nagging idea.

You don't have to quit your job right away, but start small doing things outside of work that excite you. Try to take time and space to quiet your mind, walk in nature, listen to the birds, and sit in silence. This allows the communication with our guides and our higher self to flow through in order to get us on our path.
