The Psychology and Spirituality of Climate Change

At the end of last year when I was meeting with Channeler Stephanie Banks, she channeled a message from the spirit realm to me. My spirit guides told me to research climate change. Then in a later channeling, my higher self told me to research climate justice. I'm going to be honest here. I kept thinking, no way, climate change and climate justice are low vibe topics. I had worked so hard meditating and focusing on positive thoughts, I didn't want to research low vibe topics. I was not interested in getting sucked into the environmental movement. I was still resisting until about a month ago when I finally borrowed a bunch of books by climate scientists on the Libby library app.
What I found is that yes, climate change is very real, and as I suspected it's a little depressing. As I've said in other posts, climate scientists have been sharing very clear scientific data for decades that fossil fuels and deforestation are causing a greenhouse effect which is warming our planet over time. This means mass extinction of animals, coral reef, ocean life and more natural disasters. What's weird is that we have renewable energy options and climate scientists have good solutions on the table; however, not much is done. You can see why climate change is a low vibe and depressing topic.
I kept thinking, there is clear scientific evidence here, why isn't humanity doing more? In my prior blog posts, I talked about the fact that oil companies, specifically Exxon Oil created a campaign to deny climate change. You can look this up if you search "Exxon leaked memo in 1998". That's definitely one reason why humans don't see climate change as urgent. However, we are sitting here at year 2026 and there's clear scientific data so why isn't anything happening still to this day? I recently started reading a book called What We Think About When We Try Not To Think About Global Warming by Per Espen Stoknes. I found this book so relatable and enlightening. Let me share a few points he makes.
Stoknes says that at the international and national political level, most governments see their primary task as maximizing the wealth and welfare of their own citizens. Governments of wealthy countries want to keep getting wealthier even at the expense of humanity as a whole. It's very challenging to change political people's minds unless they know that it's a re-election issue for them. So if the top down method doesn't work, then what about the majority of the population?
Stoknes says that "A great silence surrounds climate change in everyday life." He goes on to say, no one wants to hang out with the climate alarmist. Like I said above, I think climate change is low vibe, but why? I believe that we all feel guilty and shameful for what's happened to the planet. I think we all intuitively know and understand what fossil fuels are doing to the planet but we don't know what to do about it. I understand this perspective.
Furthermore, we all grew up on this planet during a time where our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents endured extreme events like World Wars and the Great Depression. Historically, people have just been trying to feed their families and fit in. They've been trying to survive. So I'm not going to guilt or shame anyone for not focusing on climate change. Based on reading this book and my own thoughts, I believe people have been focused on financial stability and survival.
What I'm going to say is that humanity is changing. We are evolving and growing. We are waking up. As part of this awakening and ascension process that humanity is going through, we start to have feelings of oneness. We start to care about all living things, including all humans, animals, and the planet we live on. We start to feel an interconnectedness. This will take some time for more humans to wake up and feel this way, but it's happening.
The waking up process starts with questioning reality, our political leaders and institutions, who we are as souls, our purpose, our own intuitive abilities, our place in the universe, and then we start to arrive at a place of Oneness. I know this process well because I went through it. I can attest that as part of this process, I started to understand that all living things are interconnected. We are all connected to our planet, and everyone has a purpose and a role to play in this game we call life.
I will provide scientific information about climate change in my blog but I don't want you to feel guilt, shame, or fear. I want to empower you with information so that you think about the planet you want for your future and the future human species. The spiritual purpose to the historical climate change we have already witnessed is that we realize as a human species that we do not want to continue in this way. I want humans to use renewable energy options and get off fossil fuels. I want humans to support each other. I want humans to prevent more animal species from going extinct. And I want to live with clean air and water.
All I'm asking is that more people think about what they want for our future. As more people think about this we will automatically speak of it, and we will choose leaders that support these visions.
