The Magic of Orbs

I started seeing orbs on the ceiling of my bedroom a couple years ago. It happens as I'm drifting off to sleep and for some reason I open my eyes and see them moving across my ceiling. At first I was startled and yelled to my husband, but after it happened so many times I became used to it. I've seen different colored orbs like blue, red, or white and different shapes.

I asked a trusted medium about orbs and her guide said that the orbs are a variety of spiritual and elemental beings that I see because my brain is in a relaxed state which makes my awareness stronger. As we are drifting to sleep, we are moving into the theta brain wave state, which means our brain is very relaxed. As I've said in other blog posts, what I've figured out through my research is that when we are able to bypass the brain interesting things happen. We become more sensitive to the energies around us.

At one point, I saw two orbs right next to me that were more like lights and it scared me because they were so close. I decided to meet with the talented channeler, Stephanie to find out what the lights were. Below was the channeling from my spirit guide:

"What you are mostly perceiving is play, light play, joyful joyful light play with presence of love. They are not a who, they are a variety of beings playing with the light realms, gaining your attention with their delight and joy and yes there are plenty of beings always hovered about, surrounding you in protection and a field of love. They do not always show up in light form however."

This experience led me to buy a couple books on orbs. The first book I read is called Orbs and the Afterlife by Virginia Hummel. She explains on the first page that her journey began when she found out her twenty-five year old son, Christopher, was killed in an accident. After her son died, she began to experience after death communications and saw the appearance of a brilliant ball of light. See my detailed blog post on After Death Communications for more on that topic. This created an unwavering excitement to research and photograph orbs.

Throughout the book, Virginia shares a lot of pictures of orbs and explains the difference between orbs and dust particles. She says the following, "Many people contend that orbs are nothing more than dust particles in the air; depending on the picture, that may be true. However, according to Miceal Ledwith, D.D., LL.D., co-author of The Orb Project, 'A careful analysis of the data collected in the study clearly shows that the orb phenomenon is real and cannot be explained away by the myriad suggestions that have been produced to account for it, such as raindrops or fog, dust particles or pollen in the air, lens flare, blurs, or digital processing errors.'" The book called The Orb Project is a scientific perspective of orbs where scientists did experiments in a "clean room" to better understand the nature of orbs. I have not read it, but it is recommended by both Virginia and the next author I mention, Nancy Myers.

I know that orbs are real because I've seen them with my own eyes. While I was reading this book, I had the thought that I haven't seen orbs in a couple months so I'll try to see them again. A couple nights ago as I was falling asleep, I heard a voice in my head that said to open my eyes. I saw a red orb floating across my ceiling. I closed my eyes and opened them again and saw it a second time. My opinion is that there are spiritual and elemental beings around us all the time, but our brain filters out all these other energies so that we can focus on our 3D lives. I also think that orbs are a gentle way for the spirit realm to show us that consciousness lives on. It's a breadcrumb that reminds us there is more than the physical 3rd dimensional plane.

Like Virginia, I also noticed during my research that there are many near death experience accounts where the experiencer describes leaving their body and realizing that they are energy in the shape of a sphere. I'll share an example from her book. Dr. Tony Cicoria is an orthopedic surgeon that was struck by lightning at the age of forty-two. Dr. Cicoria's heart stopped and he left his body. He turned away to climb the stairs nearby but noticed that his legs began to disappear and as he climbed he felt himself become a ball of bluish white light. There just happened to be a woman standing by that was an intensive care nurse that did CPR right away and brought him back. As he was recovering from his near death experience he became obsessed with playing the piano. He is now a composer and plays in front of audiences. I definitely recommend listening to him talk on podcasts, his story is truly amazing.

I also mention in my blog post on out-of-body experiences, that William Buhlman experienced this transition to a spherical form of energy while he was having an out-of-body experience. Below is what I shared in the post, "At one point in the book, Buhlman travels to a higher dimension. He finds himself losing his energy body and he looks down and sees that he is a spherical form of conscious energy. This is because he went to a higher dimension, much higher than the Earth-like dimensions." When we die and transition from the physical state to energy, I found in my research that we are in the energy form of our human body. Then as we become more comfortable in the spirit realm, it seems that at some point, we transition to our more natural form of energy.

Virginia also brought up Dr. Michael Newton's work. Dr. Newton wrote the books Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, which provide minute detail on the spirit realm based on his work with past life and in between life hypnosis of 7,000 patients. Based on what his patients said under hypnosis, his books explain that each soul is characterized by the color, shape, dimness/brightness, movement, and vibrational resonance of their energy. Dr Newton's book, Destiny of Souls has a color chart that indicates the evolutionary level of the soul. A couple examples are a young soul Level I will be observed as white energy, Level II will be reddish/pink, Level V is blue, and Level VI or higher is deep blue or purple. Virginia suggests that this may be why we see orbs in different colors, which I agree makes sense. Let me share a quote from Destiny of Souls. A patient is under hypnosis describing the spirit realm when Dr. Newton asks him to look at his teacher (soul name is Clandour) and describe what his energy looks like. The patient under hypnosis says the following "Clandour has a dark blue center working outward to a pale violet, crowned with an edge halo of white. Clandour radiates the solid state of his learning experience at the center of his energy while the violet trim is his advancing wisdom from that knowledge. The white transmits that wisdom." Very interesting, right?

I also read the book Entering the Light Fantastic by Nancy J. Myers and wow, that book is truly a page-turner. Nancy Myers explains that her son Robbie unexpectedly died at the age of 27 due to mixing alcohol, cold medicine, and pain medicine for back pain. She explains that after his death she started having lucid dreams. In one dream her son tells her the following, "It's alright, Mom, I knew it was coming, and I'm okay with that". She then meets with multiple well-known mediums and she shares some of the astonishing evidential information they provide. At one point she says that she was at a workshop with medium, James Van Praagh and James shared a message with very similar language as her dream saying, "Robbie knew he was going to pass before the age of 30 and he was 'okay with it'". Multiple mediums also tell her that she will be working with her son, Robbie to help those in spirit and on Earth, and that the work will include orbs.

This consistent messaging about orbs leads her to start taking pictures of orbs, and continue to read books and attend workshops on mediumship. At one point, Nancy is meeting with medium, Rebecca Rosen and through Rebecca, Robbie tells Nancy the following, "Robbie told me that the different colors and intensities of the orbs could, among other things, represent the different stages or levels of that soul's development. For example, purple represents a very high vibration or higher-level soul; bright white could indicate an angelic vibration; blue a teacher; green a healer, and pink was meant to show or send love. Of course, I asked if Robbie had appeared in my photos as an orb and what his color was. When Rebecca said yes, he had appeared in my photos as a pinkish green orb, I knew exactly the photo to which she was referring."

Throughout the books, both Virginia and Nancy share many stories of taking pictures of people that have a loved one in spirit, and the orbs in the picture will be next to someone's face or above their head. They also both talk about finding faces in the orbs. Nancy seems to have a special gift in regards to seeing specific characteristics of a loved one in spirit inside the orb. The stories they share are amazing but not surprising because I now understand the way the spirit realm works through synchronicity. For example, Nancy was visiting her brother-in-law, and his wife, Barbara asked Nancy to take her photo. In the picture, Nancy sees an orb above Barbara's head and a face inside that looks like President John F. Kennedy. Barbara then said she invited her deceased father to stand with her and that he looked just like JFK. There are many stories like this throughout the book.

Overall, both books were really good and I recommend them. Virginia's book has a lot of pictures of the orbs, interesting research of near death experience accounts, and scientific research involving orbs. Nancy's book doesn't have pictures but is a real page-turner about her amazing journey overcoming grief and becoming an orb medium. I would suggest reading both because they are different but very good books. My opinion based on all my research is that orbs can be different things. Per my spirit guide, I think they can be spirits playing with lights to give us signs they exist, they can be the energy of loved ones, and then there are also elemental beings like fairies in the 4th dimension. Orbs are just another piece of the puzzle to remind us that our natural state is energy and consciousness carries on past physical death.
