As I was researching, I came upon books by people that had the experience of leaving their physical body during sleep and exploring other dimensions in an energy body. At this point in my research I had already read about near death experiences and past life/in between life regressions so when I read their experiences, I could tell that what they were saying was consistent.

Robert Monroe was a wealthy businessman that unexpectedly found himself out of his physical body and in an energetic body after falling asleep. He coined the term out-of-body experiences for what was happening to him. He started exploring the realms he found himself in via his energy body each time it happened. Initially he didn't talk about it or tell anyone because he was a business executive. Eventually he wrote a book about it called Journeys Out of the Body and then created the Monroe Institute to study different states of consciousness. The Monroe Institute is still open today and teaches people meditation, out-of-body experiences, mediumship, energy healing and more.

William Buhlman is another explorer in consciousness that blew my mind with his book, Adventures Beyond the Body. In his book he explains that he was an atheist and one day he was talking to a neighbor that told him he had woken up from a deep sleep drifting above his body and he knew that it wasn't a dream. William was shocked which led him to research every book he could find on the topic. He was in college at the time and practiced the methods he found in his research to leave his body. He practiced daily for 3 weeks and one night he did it. In his book, he says that he found himself out of his body, he extends his arm reaching for the wall in front of him and his hand enters the wall. Throughout his book, Buhlman walks the reader through his experiences of leaving his body and traveling to other dimensions.

I also researched other people's out-of-body experiences on YouTube and the information they were providing was consistent with the books mentioned above by Monroe and Buhlman. It seems that oftentimes an out-of-body experience starts with sleep paralysis and then as the energy body is separating from the physical body, the person feels vibration and hears a loud noise like a train within their ears. They then roll out of their body or they sit up and find themselves in an energy body and they are able to look at their physical body. They explain that it's actually hard to stay out of their physical body because if they look at or think about the physical body then they get snapped back into their body like a rubber band.

When out-of-body experiencers leave their body, they also find that they are in a realm very similar to the 3D realm but it's slightly different. It still looks physical but they can walk through walls. I suspect that this is the 4th dimension they are describing, a dimension that bridges the 3rd dimensional physical realm with the 5th dimensional energetic realm we call Heaven. Experiencers also explain that they manifest with their thoughts, for example Buhlman says, "Focusing my thought, I think of the living room and float directly there. I can't believe how easy and natural it is." This concept that our thoughts manifest what we want is consistent with what is said by near death experiencers.

Out-of-Body experiencers also describe meetings with deceased loved ones and spirit guides when they leave the physical body. Buhlman shares an experience of meeting a spirit guide and the spirit guide says the following: "I'm acting as one of your guides. You have several different individuals assisting you in different aspects of your life. In a way, each person assisting you is a specialist in a given area of existence. You and I love to explore inward, so I am here to assist in that part of your life. You were correct in your conclusion: a guide would never interfere in the natural evolution of an individual's personal development. We realize that we must remain unobserved unless assistance is requested. Even then, we must appraise the situation and its consequences before we act."

Since out-of-body experiencers can manifest with their thoughts, they often find themselves having to work on controlling their thoughts and fears. Both Monroe and Buhlman provide examples where their own fears created many important learning experiences. When Buhlman is meeting with his guide during an out-of-body experience the guide says the following: "As you are learning, thought control and focus are absolutely essential. This is especially true as you explore deeper within the interior of the universe. Your control is getting better, but you still have fears to overcome...You felt your fears when I became visible to you; I could tell that you were wobbling in your energy field and close to reentering your body...Always remember, when we conquer our fears we gain our liberation...Very shortly, you will experience some new ways to confront your fears, both in the dense body and in your higher-frequency bodies. Each experience will serve a purpose; each obstacle is a blessing in disguise."

At one point in the book, Buhlman travels to a higher dimension. He finds himself losing his energy body and he looks down and sees that he is a spherical form of conscious energy. This is because he went to a higher dimension, much higher than the Earth-like dimensions. He says that he looks around and sees a hazy fog-like border that looks like an immense curtain of dense fog. He then senses the vibrational energy of someone close by and it's another Soul in energy form. The Soul telepathically explains to him, "The infinity of fog you see is one of the many inner membranes dividing different frequencies of the universe. All conscious energy (Souls) live within the energy frequency that is in phase with their personal vibratory rate." So what Buhlman finds out is that the fog border is separating the different dimensions.

There are many out-of-body experiencers that say that they have evidence of leaving their body. For example they will go to a street they haven't been to and find a house number and then go back to that house when they are in their physical body to confirm it was real. This phenomenon has also been studied by academics. One of the first researchers to perform experiments was psychologist Dr. Charles Theodore Tart. In 1966, he invited a young out-of-body experiencer to participate in a series of experiments in the sleep laboratory of the University of California - Davis. The experiments took four nights in which the experiencer was to lay down and try to exit the physical body, while connected to a series of devices that measured her physiological conditions. The objective of the experiments was the identification of a randomly generated five-digit number, approximately 1.5 meters above her head which was impossible to be physically observed. From Monday to Wednesday, the projector reported having seen the clock while floating out of body. At the times informed by her, the devices demonstrated unusual brain-wave patterns. An absence of rapid-eye movements (REM) was also observed. On Wednesday night, the experiencer identified the target number: 25132.

If you are curious about out-of-body experiences, I really liked William Buhlman's book, Adventures Beyond the Body. I would also suggest checking out the Monroe Institute, I really like their meditation app called Expand. There are also other people that have come into this space as well and are teaching people out-of-body techniques. Specifically Darius J Wright and Jade Shaw are both frequently interviewed on the podcast scene and Gaia TV. Here are their websites if curious about them:

I personally have never had an out-of-body experience but I'm fascinated by people that pursue this exploration and share their experiences. These people are the true explorers of our time. For now, I will stick to meditation and work on controlling my monkey brain.
