Parenting From the Perspective of the Spirit Realm

During the last couple years, I was researching spirituality and enjoying all the excitement that comes with reading the books, meeting with mediums, and having fun experiences along the way. I've also been a stay-at-home mom to three little kids at the same time. I was often trying to understand how parenting coincides with the spiritual research I was doing.

I will be honest that there have been times where I wanted to pursue my own interests instead of cleaning the house and wiping butts. I brought this up with my spirit guide when I met with the wonderful channeler, Stephanie. Stephanie channeled my spirit guide to see what he had to say about this. Here was his response:

"I’m listening, always listening. Here’s the thing about parenting. You chose this because nothing will grow you faster, or better, or more effectively, or more efficiently, or more completely. That is only if you allow it to do so, only if you give over to it. It is not about the actions of parenting or the statements you will make, or the requirements incumbent upon you to do a good job of it. The presenting offer of parenting, the proposal of parenting is for a soul, you, to recognize yourself in the other soul(s), them, that you are parenting and to heal yourself in a way that is more full, more complete, more comprehensive, then what you have been allotted, or allowed, or permitted yourself to do prior. And in so doing, the souls, them, that you are parenting, can gain enormous benefit from witnessing you in your unhealed state, in your transitional state, in your healed state, and in your working toward maintaining healed state. You see what’s happening here. All of this does occur absolutely while you are wiping butts, picking up toys, washing dishes, folding clothes, brushing crumbs off little faces. All of it must occur in the most mundane because one of the greatest tasks you are here to master is elevating the mundane to the magical."

Ok, so this is a huge task my spirit guide gave me. I have to make wiping butts magical?! I'm kidding. I think he was saying that one of the reasons we incarnate on the planet is to enjoy the physical senses. An important part of this is living in the present and to feel the physical senses of what it's like to hug our children, feel grass on our bare feet, and the wind on our face. This is kind of a big thing for souls because in the spirit realm it's not as physical which is a major reason why the soul incarnates. Another reason we incarnate is the soul enjoys the physical and emotional senses when caring for another human. So my spirit guide is saying....notice these little physical and emotional senses we get to have as humans! This is still a work in progress for me. The other main point here is that my children are watching me go through a transformation, which includes a lot of work to become a more high vibe, calmer me. Watching this transformation will have an important impact on them.

Another interesting topic that came up the last couple years was karmic energy. It is very common to reincarnate with the same souls over and over again and play different roles. You will find this concept to be a frequently discussed topic in the books on past life regression and near death experiences. Throughout my own research I found out that I had a past life with one of my sons. The past life was around 100 BC in the Baltic region. I was a man with mental illness and my son was my mother in that life. I treated my mother badly due to my mental illness and this mother still took care of me. Now in my current life, I am taking care of my son. I'm bringing this up because in some lives we take care of people and then they take care of us. So when I'm picking up after my son, sometimes I think about how he took care of me before. This can also happen in one life where we take care of our children and then they take care of us later in life when we are elderly. The soul wants to balance energy.

Another point that has been brought up by my spirit guides is to use my own intuition and understanding of spirituality to parent. Below is a channeling session with my spirit guide, Grace where she gives me advice on how to bridge spirituality and parenting.

"Parenting as you have discovered is something you will do the remainder of these lived days. And in that realm and in that space I am here to remind you of the following:

1. There is no more spiritual pursuit then parenting

2. The job, the role, the responsibility you hold is to bridge the two (spirituality and parenting) so they are indiscernible from one another, so that you are always coming from the parenting perspective, the spirit of your precious children, the spirit of the preciousness of you, the spirit realm that exists and encircles and encompasses all of you together

3. As you find your path to do so, you will feel both a strength and a weightiness of responsibility for you will remember that you are tasked not simply with the three dimensional endless responsibilities and roles but also as a remover of obstacles that which lies in the way of your sweet ones accessing their truth, path, journeys and light.

So you have taken on quite a bit to be in a family way at this time for there are left, right and center. The obvious ones of course go without saying and you can see on a daily basis. Then the not so obvious ones that exist where your sweet ones will be without your physical presence, without your verbal defense, without your fierce protection. How to maneuver and even manipulate situations when you are not there, how to imbue them with the knowing and trusting within themselves. This will only come through the embodiment of it within you, this will only be believed by their direct observation of you.

So I am bringing it forward for you to have the full understanding that this is not something for you to separate and go off to study, pursue and hone your gifts and skills in separation of what you call your family role. It is all to be woven and threaded together. It is all part of the tapestry. If and when it becomes separate, you will find you are wobbly, very wobbly, and you have less clarity and uncertainty. You will come back to the messiness of the moment to moment experience of what it means to be fully engaged, as fully as possible, in whatever moments present themselves. Not in perfection but with as much openness as possible. And then to be speaking aloud, teaching, demonstrating and invoking so there is nothing you do completely alone without the Presence, spiritual essence or without the direct participation of your children.

As you continue your parenting walk I will give you practices to engage in so that you may more clearly attune yourself through your own system and your own team as to which these beings are needing from you. Shall we get a new journal for these pursuits, yes we shall. We shall have a three subject notebook, one for each child. Each one will have its own title page with their birth name and spirit name, what would they like their spirit name to be. As you are so inclined and as the challenges of parenthood become more and more what you are faced with, and as they grow the challenges become more complex. As they develop you will find more or less of a need for certain aspects of you and your involvement. You will want to take pen to paper and ask the questions and receive the answers and I will be among others that will support you. Most likely it will be their higher essence themselves if you are on the right page, name, and spirit name. This is important."

Essentially, Grace is providing advice to journal questions to ask my spirit guides or my children's higher selves, and then journal what comes back in my mind as the answer. I have tried this journaling technique and it definitely helped the situation. In regards to bridging what I have learned in my spiritual pursuits and parenting, it's been important to teach my children that they are powerful eternal souls that have lived many lives. It's so very important to me that I empower them. They are unique and authentic souls that incarnated with a purpose. They can figure out who they are and their purpose based on their own intuition. I also want them to live life on their own terms and live creatively with kindness, love, and gratitude. I don't want my children to live in fear. I don't want my children to feel like they need to live up to some expectation that society or I have for them. They are independent souls with their own purposes, challenges, and experiences that they incarnated here for. I can show them what works for me and care for them in the most gentlest of ways but ultimately this is their life.
