Living Life in Flow

There are multiple stages of a spiritual awakening and I went through many of them:

  • Shock when I discovered all the information on near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, and past-life and between-life hypnosis. Then I was even more surprised when I took evidential mediumship classes and found that we all have psychic abilities.

  • Ego death as I realized that much of what society tells us is not necessarily true. I began to question reality with curiosity. This often caused bouts of anxiety as I started with a clean slate, wondering what was actually true for me.

  • Understanding discernment, which means I figured out which information resonated with me, and which information I should ignore.

  • Learning about my own soul and who I really am. This included a dedicated meditation practice and learning about my past lives.

  • Better understanding the greater universe and how humanity fits in with the cosmos. This required me to do my own research into extraterrestrial life, as well as having my own ET contact experiences.

  • Questioning how I can be of service to humanity. I went through a phase where I was obsessively focused on how I can help humanity. What I eventually realized is that humanity's ascension process will take time and I can help humanity by living my best life with love and wisdom.

  • Understanding duality and a higher perspective of life. There will always be challenges, darkness, and shadow for the learning of the soul. Life will never be perfect. That's the point—and the beauty—of a life on Earth: to experience the full spectrum of emotions on this planet. The highs of love and joy, as well as the lows of grief and anger are all part of the experience. It's a dance, but it's also temporary. When our life is over, we will return to the spirit realm, our true home.

Now after all that, I'm living life in what I would call an "awakened state". I'm no longer searching for answers as much. Instead I'm moving forward with more ease.

So, what does this mean? Let me explain.

Throughout my life, I experienced a lot of anxiety and stress, a lack of purpose, and spinning thoughts about the past and future. I often resisted whatever I was doing in the moment. To manage these feelings during my late teens, twenties, and early thirties, I would sometimes drink too much alcohol or overeat. Drinking and overeating only created a cycle of more stress and anxiety.

Throughout my journey over the past couple of years, meditation has made a tremendous difference in my anxiety, stress, and spinning thoughts. What I've noticed is that meditation doesn't just help me on the day I do it; I also notice changes in how I feel the following day.

The other big transformation for me was focusing on self-love and compassion. I realize now, who I am as a soul and how tough it is to incarnate on Earth. I don't expect myself to be perfect. When I make a mistake, I forgive myself. I remind myself that I love myself unconditionally.

The world would be a different place if everyone loved themselves. Ultimately, loving myself and meditation changed my health and how I felt on a daily basis.

It's taken a couple of years for me to get to this place, but I live my days with much more ease now. I don't resist the things I used to, like cleaning and picking up my house daily because I have little kids. Instead, I try to live in the now, enjoying being human, including all that comes with it.

Another thing I used to resist was negative feelings. I've always avoided sadness, anger, and conflict, to the point where I used to use alcohol to avoid feelings. What I've learned is that it's absolutely okay to be a glass-is-half-full person but at the same time we still need to feel our feelings and allow others to have their feelings.

It's called holding space for people.

Instead of feeling fear or defensiveness when someone is angry or frustrated, we can allow them to feel their emotions without those emotions pulling us down. We can observe with compassion and simply allow.

This is something I think we all need to work on. It's challenging because historically, we have not been taught that it's okay to express negative feelings in a healthy way.

We can feel our feelings, but we don't need to stay there. We don't have to live in anger, grief, and sadness. Feel the feelings and release them. We can actually do this within minutes.

Another important point I want to discuss is just staying present.

When we stay present and in our bodies, we are more in tune with our higher self, or soul. Staying in our body means we are feeling what it's like to hold our steering wheel when we drive. It means listening to the birds chirping when we walk outside, tasting our food when we are eating, or feeling the pavement under our feet when we take a walk.

It means staying connected to our physical senses and staying present. Our minds aren't wandering, thinking about yesterday or tomorrow. We're simply experiencing what is happening right now.

When we stay present, we are in a state of allowing rather than resisting or forcing things. I don't force conversations, relationships, or friendships anymore. If people want to talk to me or if I want to talk to someone, it will happen.

I also don't force things to "work out" the way I want them to. I now believe that everything happens as it should. I'm not living in fear or anxiety of what might happen. I'm just living in the present. Sure, I plan events and put things on my calendar, but my mind isn't constantly spinning and focused on the future.

This doesn't mean life is perfect. There will always be challenges during an incarnation. What it does mean is that we aren't living life in fear of those challenges. When challenges do occur, we can work through them with self-love, compassion, and healing.

This is a different way of living, and it's still relatively new for me, but I believe it's a much better way to live.

I'm sharing this because perhaps it will help someone to realize that it's possible to live life with less fear and anxiety. We often become accustomed to living a certain way and assume that's just how life has to be. But it doesn't have to be as challenging as we make it out to be.

We can allow our lives to flow as they're meant to, while staying in a positive state, remaining present, and enjoying the ride.
