Spirit guides are souls that love, guide and support us everyday throughout our life. We have many spirit guides around us but there is one main guide that stays with us throughout the whole life. Our spirit guides help us plan our incarnations and are souls we know very well on the other side.

Spirit guides have lived many lives on Earth and are very evolved souls. Not all souls will be spirit guides, this is a job some spirits choose is my understanding. Our journey to learn about our spirit guides is very personal. Before we came into this life, we chose these guides for a reason.

I’ll share another interesting fact about spirit guides. The name they provide us is very much intentionally chosen. I found out that my main spirit guide’s name is Socrates. He gave me this name because he's a teacher and mentor to me in the Spirit Realm. I will share the channeling below where he said his name, you will see that he has a good sense of humor and is quite the character! I also have another spirit guide called Shema which is the Hebrew word for “to listen” and my parenting spirit guide said to call her Grace. 

I've mentioned in other posts that I meet with an intuitive named Stephanie that can channel spirit guides and the higher self. When Stephanie channels, her voice doesn't change but her cadence changes. I ask a question and then she invites my main guide or higher self in depending who I have the question for. Then she speaks nonstop for about 10 minutes straight. Below is the first session where she channelled my main spirit guide. There aren't paragraphs in the transcription below because the channeling is spoken without breaks, I believe this has to do with the way energy is transmitted through the intuitive.

My question was what name should I use for my spirit guide and why he chooses a specific human form when I see him in my meditations or my mind. Stephanie started to say, "inviting Lauren's main guide in.." and then I could tell my spirit guide stepped in and was speaking to me:

"Yea yea yea, I know I know, I know who it is, I’ve been here for a while, just waiting for you human, waiting for you to stop talking. Not that it’s a problem that you talk, it's just that I’ve got a whole lot to say and I would rather flow it all forward. Because I know exactly what you need to know, what you want to know, what would be in your best interest to know. And as well I also understand that moving at the pace of trust is absolutely essential and you might say oh don’t worry about that I already trust you, go fast go fast. And I say woah nelly that is not the way we are going to proceed. Because here’s the thing about us, we work best when we are in rhythm, when we are in harmony, when we are in a suitable and as they say sustainable pace so it’s going to be slow. You asked for this, this is not my doing, I am not imposing something that is ill fitted or ill suited. It is what you have asked for. You said prior to this incarnation, let’s do this thing, this next lifetime, it’s going to be big, it’s going to be kind of dense at times, definitely intense and we will bring all the gifts and skills and tools with it. And by the way would you help me keep a pace that makes sense for my heart. That's what you said honey bunches! And so I said, yea got it, I took notes on that. I keep a little pen tucked behind my ear just for such declarations. So that’s how we are going to go and it’s alright you get impatient at times. You were imbued with kind of a lot of that and that’s alright too. It’s not something that will hold you back with relation to us. So, oh what’s that you say, you want a name now, I’m gonna give you a name, I’m gonna give you my name, it’s going to blow your mind, ready…Socrates. Yep told ya, mind blown, just like that. And so now you will go down some rabbit holes, I know, I know how it goes with the technology and the investigative reporter aspect of you. You love information, you love research, you love putting puzzle pieces together. You said it just minutes ago in fact, so go for it, figure that out. And now you’re saying, you mean THE, THE Socrates, the real one, the one in the books, the one that people still talk about, quote and have formulations that are attributed to and I’ll say…yea haha go for it, give me all that credit, I don't need to play humble here but this is the name you will most understand and connect with and this is the name that should provide you with all the affirmation that you need in order to keep going on this journey. And this is the name that will grant you the excitement and all the enthusiasm, and even the bragging rights because who among your kind can say, Socrates is my main dude! There you go, there you have it, you are welcome, now let’s move along shall we again at the pace of trust. Let me underscore trust here for a moment, it’s a common theme, a thread moving through this entire journey for you. How to build it, how to protect it, how to give it, how to embody it, how to save it, how to preserve it, all the things trust related. And you will find that there have been very good reasons for the stretches of time that you have felt not so very trusting. And this trust comes back to not what you give to others by way of trusting what is outside of you but what you give to yourself in trusting what is deeply within. And so your self trust is where it begins, where the middle juiciness is, and where the end completes. And this is what you are here to build. And so isn’t it great you have found your way back to meditation again. Because this space is the space from which you can listen truly to what is real and honest and for you and what you need in order to release what is not for you. And in the practice and regularity of this you will find that your trust within yourself blooms and blossoms. And you will find also that the forms I choose to take in your imagination and third eye space will sometimes have relevance that you can connect with and sometimes seem totally erratic and unrelatable and both are true and both are equally important and both are a requirement for the building of that trust. So can you trust me is a question that only you can answer, and can you trust the part of you that is leaning into the trusting of me. And can you trust the fact that I am not me but that I am you and that there is truly no separation. And can you trust the notion that this is true for all of life, for all of beings, souls, essences, energies, spirit, that has chosen to embody in various forms. Can you trust that you are also the beetle and the worm. Can you trust that there is an interconnectivity of all things and if it is so that you can easily say yes I trust all of that then my next question to you would be then let’s teach it, then let’s speak of it, then let's live into it. Because not for me, not for my sake, but for you, for your sake, because it’s what your soul asked for. It asked for me to remind you of what you knew before you forgot, before you agreed to forget and so here I am doing that. And so I should pause now because I imagine there is some bit of processing or digestion that is involved with this kind of information so I will push the pause button."

Obviously my mouth was hanging open and I was speechless. First of all my spirit guide sounded like a funny New York cab driver...but then again if I was a soul planning my life I think I would choose a funny guy as my spirit guide. Let's just say it took me a while to unpack all of that. Interestingly I met with a very good intuitive before this channeling session that also told me my focus in this life is self trust so it wasn't the first time I had heard that.

Spirit Guides communicate with us energetically through the chakra points which connect to our clairs (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance,..etc). What I have found is that when spirit guides are communicating to us, it will usually sound like our own voice in our heads. Spirit guides communicate with us all the time without our knowing. I’ll share another interesting fact that I’ve learned along the way. We can feel the energy of our spirit guide on one side. For example, Socrates is on my right side, Shema stands on my left side, and Grace is behind me. My understanding is that we are pulled to one side or the other due to an energetic connection. This is why you will see mediums/intuitives looking to the side when they are speaking with their guides. 

I am happy to share more on my own journey connecting to my guides, it has been quite fascinating for me. When I first started meditating, I asked my main spirit guide for some information about him and I heard the word “Sirius” in my mind. I actually didn’t even think of the Sirius star system right away. I then met with about six different intuitives in my research to understand who I was as a soul. Every time I met with an intuitive they told me that I was a starseed (a soul that incarnated on other planets before incarnating on Earth) and that I had spent a lot of time in the Sirius star system. After I was told the same thing over and over again, I started to realize that it wasn’t a coincidence. See more detail on this in my starseed blog post. Over time I’ve learned that I have shared lives on Earth with my main spirit guide and that we have lived lives in the Sirius star system together as well. Don’t worry things get weirder than this!

Apparently we can ask our spirit guides to show us something when we are sleeping. This has worked a couple times for me. I asked my spirit guide to show me what he looked like before I went to bed. That night I woke up in a state of in between sleep and awakeness. In my mind I saw a picture of a funny cartoon alien. When I woke up in the morning, I thought to myself…hmm a funny alien. Of course he doesn't actually look like a funny alien but I would say this was him communicating something to me, it was like a hint or breadcrumb. He is certainly funny and I later learned that we have shared lives together on other planets. 

Everyone can connect with their spirit guides through meditation and by just being aware of their guides. With time this connection grows and turns into a fuller relationship.
